This poem is based on an interpretation of an unsettling dream. In reflecting on this experience, I am drawn to the Hebrew word מִתָּנָה (translit: matana) meaning "gift" or "offering." Although the dream was fraught with fear, it emerged as a valuable gift. Sometimes the strongest sources of inspiration in poetry can come from truly unexpected places.
